Privacy policy
This site tells the story of our family. In doing so, we want to respect the privacy of everyone who appears in it.
Who is responsible for the data
The data controller is Tomasz Brodzikowski, Denmark. Contact: tomasz@brodzikowski.dk.
What data, and where it comes from
First names, surnames, dates and places of birth, marriage and death, and family relationships. They come from family records and memories, parish registers, and a tree kept in MacFamilyTree.
What is public and what only the family sees
- People who died more than 10 years ago: full name and dates are public.
- Living people and those who died within the last 10 years: shown publicly without names, only by sex and relationship (e.g. “son”, “wife”, “cousin”). Exception: the author of the site, with his own consent, by first name.
- Family members log in with a personal invitation link or with a link sent to their email (no passwords). Everyone sees themselves in full, and only their closest relatives (parents, children, spouse, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, parents-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law), and only to the extent those relatives have agreed to. More distant relatives are shown as in the public view.
- Consent: each person chooses what their closest relatives may see about them (first name, surname, birth, marriages); a parent decides for an under-age child. Consent can be changed or withdrawn at any time on the “My consent” page.
- The family tree and the pedigree are not indexed by search engines or AI bots.
Photos in the galleries
The galleries with Tomasz’s photos from travels and family gatherings are public and can be found by search engines. They are situational photos, published as part of his work as a photographer. If you are in one of the photos and don’t want it online, write to Tomasz and the photo will be removed.
Purpose and legal basis
The purpose is to preserve the family’s history for its members and for future generations. The legal basis is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR): documenting family history while keeping public data to a minimum. People who give their consent may be shown more fully.
Your rights
Anyone who appears in the tree may at any time:
- ask what data we hold about them,
- ask for errors to be corrected,
- ask for their data to be deleted or hidden, including in the family view,
- object to their data being shown.
Just write to tomasz@brodzikowski.dk. We will reply within a month at the latest, usually sooner. A parent may write on behalf of a child. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority: in Denmark Datatilsynet, in Poland the President of UODO, or the authority in your own country.
